Sunningdale’s Old Course, which opened in 1901, was laid out by Willie Park Jnr....

This is a course of great scenic beauty with undulating fairways and some

very interesting holes. Designed by Harry Colt and opened in 1926 it is

probably one of the most beautiful courses in Middlesex.

The par for the course is 68 and it is 5736 yards long. The

yardages are well marked both on the fairways and at the

edges so that you can always get the measure.

Sunningdale was developed on land originally forming part of Windsor Forest. It was bought in 1524 by St John's College Cambridge who still own it today. In those days Sunningdale had few houses, the area being mostly common land covered with gorse, heather and a few trees. The construction of the Woking to Staines Railway divided the land and thereafter parts were sold off for development.
