he well-established course follows a traditional and gentle parkland layout which is challenging, whilst not being intimidating. With its many water features, placement of shot is all important to reach our excellent putting surfaces.

Chesterfield Golf Club was founded in 1897 and its first members played a course in Somersall Park. The Club moved to its present site in 1906 when Somersall Park proved too short. The original Walton course consisted of nine holes, taking in much of the land now occupied by the first six holes together with some which is now a public recreation area. The Course is situated on Matlock Moor, about one and a half miles North of Matlock on the Chesterfield Road, rising to 850 feet above sea level. Designed and laid out in 1907 by that famous Professional, the late Tom Williamson, the course generally speaking, calls for accuracy rather than long hitting.
