Helsby Golf Club is situated in leafy Cheshire and only 7 miles from the Roman city of Chester. Founded in 1901, its 18-hole par-70 parklands course over 6,265 yards was designed by James Braid.

Set in a mature and protected conservation area, the gently undulating parkland course has two separate 9 holes starting from the Clubhouse. As a member and if time is short, the layout lends itself to playing just a few holes, if preferred, since there are several starting points. On a light summer evening it is hard to resist slipping out for ‘a bit of practice’ and you always have the added comfort of knowing that you are never more than a short walk from the 19th!

Situated less than half a mile from the A6, Hazel Grove Golf Club is both highly accessible and hidden away. A short drive up the lane and the hustle and bustle of the main road and urbania is left behind as you relax into the tranquil surroundings of the Club.

Overall, there is much variety in hole lengths and every kind of shot will be called for, but the opening five holes really stretch the average player. There are many holes with character, for example the fifth, with a long uphill carry to the green with a pond to the left and below the green and the need to hold the shot up to that side. he well-established course follows a traditional and gentle parkland layout which is challenging, whilst not being intimidating. With its many water features, placement of shot is all important to reach our excellent putting surfaces.

Formed in 1905, the Erewash Valley Golf Club fully deserves its reputation as a top class golf course.
