On December 1st, 1891 a circular appeared in the "PAINSWICK ANNUAL REGISTER" which invited ladies and gentlemen to join the "Painswick Golf Club". This, it seems, is the first mention of the Club to appear in print. The Club had actually been formed on October 8th, 1891. The first President of the new Club was T. Minchinhampton Golf Club, which was founded in 1889, comprises three golf courses, each of quite different character. The Old Course, on Minchinhampton Common, provides a good test, with some particularly excellent par 3s, and is situated on common land between Stroud and Minchinhampton. The Old Course offers traditional golf with a newly refurbished modern clubhouse, and is run separately from the New Courses.

In 1939 Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club celebrated it's Golden Jubilee having been started by a small band of enthusiasts who in the autumn of 1889, "resolved to introduce the Royal and Ancient game to this part of England".

We are situated 2 miles from Gloucester, with the course providing panoramic views of the vale of gloucester, as well as backing onto Highnam woods.

You can enjoy some superb golf plus the added benefit of the extensive facilities of the Ramada Hotel and Resort Gloucester, including a driving range, tennis courts, dry ski slopes and a health club and swimming pool.

Our club is set in the picturesque Cotswolds, three miles south of Cheltenham in open rolling countryside, and offers you a championship standard course.

It's a past venue for the English Ladies' Amateur Championship, the prestigious 'Cotswold Gold Vase, and county championships.
