Denham Golf Club is a traditional private members' club which has been in existence since 1910. The course was designed and constructed in 1911 by Harry Colt, one of the most prolific of golf course designers and to this day its many special qualities reflect much of this tradition. Being situated on a gravel subsoil the course possesses good draining characteristics.

The world famous Ryder Cup Golf Trophy, that is now contested every two years between the USA and Europe, was donated by Samuel Ryder a wealthy seed merchant and early supporter of professional golf. Sam's business was based in St. Albans and his home club was Verulam where he was also Captain for several years.

These clubs are independent of the School and are members-only. Other sports and school clubs hire the cricket nets, both indoor and outdoor, cricket pitches, the swimming pool, sports hall, the Olympic-standard athletics facilities and other playing fields regularly or on an ad hoc basis.
