Blackburn Golf Club is a parkland course with superb views of the Lancashire coast and Pennine Hills. The club was founded in 1894 at the height of Blackburn's power as a cotton and engineering town. The driving force was Walter Stirrup. The Parkland course, set amongst rolling hills, has superb views of the Lancashire coast and the Pennies and, with its lush greens and fairways, offers an excellent test for any golfer.

It was on the 19th of November 1892 that James Rigby, the Medical Officer of Health and Nicholas Cockshutt, a local solicitor, consulted with George Lowe the professional of Lytham St Anne's about the construction of Preston Golf Course. A site was chosen on the eastern side of Preston adjacent to the Preston Pleasure Gardens in the district of Farringdon. Within a week 9 holes were laid out. The course is now managed by Link4Life(Trust) giving some exciting developments for the future, the course is in better condition ever, and still improving. July see's 134,000 pounds of new machinery being delivered. Check the course out for new and exciting improvements.
