Description

The "Royal", being a private members club, is pleased to welcome visiting golfers, societies and corporate events. Founded in 1888, it is one of the oldest, and the only Royal club, in Hampshire. Relocated to it's current position in 1901, it is just a couple of miles from the centre of Winchester, the ancient capital of England.
The course is a testing and enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities, made more difficult when the wind blows - with a par of 71 (SSS 70 on white tees) it is 6216 yards long! Occupying one of the highest points in the area there are some spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Built on chalk downs the course drains exceptionally well and is very rarely closed due to heavy rainfall.
The new clubhouse, completed in 1995, replacing the building completely destroyed by fire in 1994, provides exceptional facilities for members and visitors alike.
