Situated approximately six miles southeast of the capital city of Edinburgh, Broomieknowe Golf Club offers a welcoming, mature parkland course, in superb condition, with all facilities, including clubhouse catering, changing and shower facilities, golf club and trolley hire. Broomieknowe is an easy walking course that is the product of two of the greatest names in golf, Ben Sayers and James Braid. The former originally laid out the course with Braid making extensions later on.

The traditions of the Society date back to 1761 when the members played over Bruntsfield Links in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. However by the mid 19th century conditions at Bruntsfield were becoming quite congested and members started playing more golf at Musselburgh where the Summer meeting had been held since 1839.

The Club offers people the chance to join a golf club with no waiting lists and expensive joining fees, and start their Medal playing career. Competitions for all levels of ability are provided across all of our golf courses that will give you the opportunity to achieve an official Scottish Golf Union Handicap. The Club is open to all members of the public and membership runs annually from the 1st April to the 31st March.

GULLANE is a small village with a population of 1,800, surrounded by five outstanding links courses including Muirfield one of the most famous in the world. The buildings in this district give the impression of recent times, yet Gullane as a village is very old. The ruined church at the roadside, adjacent to the professional's shop, was dedicated to St Andrew in the 12th century. The last vicar of 'Golyn' Andro Makghe was deposed by James VI for smoking tobacco.

Duddingston Golf Club, founded in 1895, was designed by three times Open Champion Willie Park. The course was extended in the 1960's and 1970's by John Shade and Bill Biggar and, with the addition of the new tee at the 12th hole, now measures 6525 yards. Designed by Old Tom Morris around 1850, Dunbar East Links situated on the estuary of the Firth of Forth, is a breathtaking layout of a Championship links course that stretches across 6404 yards of coastal terrain. All of the major Scottish Championships have been played here, The Scottish Amateur, Professional Championship and Scottish Boys' Championship. It has been used as an Open qualifier on several occasions in the past.

The Club was formed in 1904 when Lord Tweeddale, a keen golfer, leased 50 acres of the family estate for a nominal rent of £5 a year - 'for the whole right and privilege of playing golf'. In 1968, the late Lord Tweeddale bequested the land to three local Trustees - 'for behoof of the inhabitants of the village of Gifford'. The lease was renewed at the sum of one penny, if asked for! This quaint arrangement reflects the unique village atmosphere of the Club today.
