Murrayfield Golf Club's creation in 1896 was part of the late nineteenth century explosion of interest in golf in Edinburgh which saw many private clubs created. The Old Links at Musselburgh was originally seven holes, with another added in 1838 and the full nine-holes came into play in 1870. The first three holes stretched eastwards from the grandstand at the racecourse, site of the former clubhouse of the Honourable Company. The Clubhouse has a superb location, looking down the first fairway and a great view coming up the eighteenth. The clubhouse has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is open from 8am till 11:30pm. The facilities include a dining area and two well-stocked bars, ample parking for members and guests. There is also ladies, gents and visiting changing rooms with secure lockers and good showers.

Newbattle Golf Club is a mature 18 hole parkland course with tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers. There was an original golf club in Winchburgh at Faucheldean which appears to date from 1907 and lasted until the first war. The current site on Niddry Parks dates from 1926 when the oil company built a 7 hole course for the shale mineworkers with no visitors allowed. When the mines and 'bings' (slagheaps) closed in 1961 that was the end of the course and it reverted to grazing land for the Earl of Hopetoun. This high profile occasion was fully supported by the Scottish PGA and many of the top Scottish PGA professionals participated.
The Club was host to 32 teams taking part on the day, with each team consisting of three amateurs and a professional including those from the top 15 of the Scottish PGA Order of Merit.

Every effort is made to ensure that your visit is one of total enjoyment. The club house offers a warm and comfortable welcome to all. The course was designed by Graeme Webster and is an excellent test of golf. With water features throughout the 6000 yard par 70 course and greens built to USGA standards, this is a true challenge for all abilities.
